Extension and adduction at wrist joint
What is the function of the extensor digitorum?
Extension of 4 digits at MCP and extension of wrist
Where do the extensor muscles originate?
Lateral epicondyle
What is the action of the extensor digiti minimi?
Extends 5th finger at MCP
What is the action of abductor pollicus longus?
Extension at wrist
Abduction and extension of thumb at CMC joint
What is the action of extensor pollicis brevis and longus?
Extension at wrist, proximal phalanx of thumb at IP, MCP and CMC joints
What is the action of supinator?
Supinates forearm
What nerve supplies all the muscles on the posterior arm and forearm?
Radial nerve
What does the radial nerve divide into?
Superficial and deep branches in cubital fossa
What is the deep branch of the radial nerve otherwise known as?
Posterior interosseous nerve
What does the sensory branch of the radial nerve do?
Sensory supply to dorsum of hand
What veins contribute to the superficial dorsal venous arch?
Cephalic and basilic
What are synovial cysts/ganglions?
Non-tender, cystic growths on the dorsum of the hand
Communicate with sheaths covering tendons
