______________and other environmental factors lead
to variations in personality. A good example is the
differences in western and eastern cultures, people
from Asian countries against those from Europe and
the Americas. Specifically, groups assimilating

19
Q

NOTE:

  • So is it better to be an individualist or a collectivist? Should you
change yourself and be more of one than the other? Or perhaps
    strive to be both?
  • The advantage of either type is determined by circumstances you
experience alone or in groups. Alone, you are free to be yourself.
But in groups, especially amongst strangers, there’s always the risk
of offense. You only need to be prepared in making necessary
adjustments to resolve conflicts should you inadvertently create
one or altogether avoid conflict by being aware of these value
    preferences.
  • Or, you can choose to embrace both individualistic and
collectivistic practices, if only to serve as an advantage for you in
relating well with both types of people.
