What are the components of the gastrointestinal tract?
The mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, appendix
What are the systemic functions of the gastrointestinal tract?
the break down of food into nutrients, absorption of said nutrients, movement of food through the body, and removal of bodily waste
The mouth: what is Mechanical Digestion?
teeth physically breakdown food
The Mouth: what is chemical digestion?

gastric juices break down food into chyme
What is the function of the small intestine?
Pushes chyme through, while absorbing nutrients
