What are cues of impaired perfusion?
Hypotension
Elevated HR
Orthostatic hypotension
Abnormal heart sounds
Anxiety
Hairless legs
Peripheral edema
What are risk factors for impaired perfusion?
HTN
Smoking
Genetics
Gender
Race
What is essential HTN?
HTN with no cause
>130
What is secondary HTN?
Has a cause
What are cues of HTN?
Fatigue
Nose bleeds
Visual disturbances
Respiratory problem
What are interventions for HTN?
Exercise (think about the hot girl walk)
Stress management
Weight reduction
Stop smoking and alcohol
IMPLEMENT SMALL CHANGES
What is PAD?
changes are distal to the constriction
What are cues of PAD?
leg pain
shinny tight skin
Hairless legs
Redness
Gray/blue and cold
Thickened toenail
What are interventions for PAD
Avoid extreme temps
Don’t put ice or heat on extremities
Don’t raise legs above heart lvl
Dangle legs down
Positioning/Skin care
Medication: aspirin, clopidogrel
What is CAD?
ACS: MIs, Unstable angina
Stable angina
What are risk factors of CAD? Modifiable vs nonmodifiable?
Diabetes (modifiable)
Smoking/Alcohol (modifiable)
Obesity (modifiable)
Stress (modifiable)
Race, gender, fam hx (nonmodifiable)
How soon should a ECG be taken with chest pain?
10 minutes
What are characteristics of stable angina?
caused by stress/exertion, relieved by nitro
Lasts less than 15 min
Squeezing pain
What are characteristics of an MI or unstable angina?
Lasts longer than 30 min
Stabbing pain
Relieved by opioids
Occurs without cause
What are interventions for an MI?
Aspirin 81mg
IV access
Identify and manage dysrhythmias
ECG
Get troponin lvls
90 min to get to cath lab
