What is delirium?
A medical emergency characterized by inattentiveness, disorganized thoughts, and an altered LOC
What is Dementia?
multiple cognitive deficits that impair memory and can affect language, motor skills, and abstract thinking
What is Alzheimer’s disease?
Chronic, terminal disease that is characterized by the formation of neuritic plaques

What are manifestations of ETOH delirium?

Happens 2-3 days after last drink
What is Antabuse?
Makes them sick when alcohol is ingested
S/S: drowsiness, headache, metallic aftertaste
What are the s/s of amphetamine overdose?
Jittery, anxious, dilated pupils, tachycardia, HTN, dysrhythmias
What is s/s of amphetamine withdrawal?
depressed, fatigued, anxious, irritable, paranoia, intense drug cravings, poor concentration
