I: L surface of greater trochanter of femur

A: entire muscle - hip abduction and stabilization of pelvis in coronal plane; A part - flexion and internal (M) rotation; P part - extension and external (L) rotation

O: L part of dorsal surface of sacrum; P part of gluteal surface of ilium; thoracolumbar fascia; sacrotuberous ligament
I: upper fibers - IT tract; lower fibers - gluteal tuberosity
Inn: I gluteal n. (L5-S2)
A: entire muscle - extension and external (L) rotation of hip in sagittal and coronal planes; upper fibers - abduction; lower fibers - adduction
