Clinical Decision Making
Defined as choosing between alternatives, a skill that improves as nurse gain experience.
Clinical Judgment
Refers to the thought process that allows nurses providing care to arrive at a conclusion.
Constipation
Refers to bowel movements that are infrequent or hard to pass. Stool is often hand and dry.
Critical Thinking
The objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to make a decision.
Eczema
Condition where patches of the epidermis become inflamed, itchy, red, cracked and rough. Blisters may occur.
Ischemic Stroke
Occurs when an artery in the brain becomes blocked and lacks blood supply.
Kardex
Medical information system used by nursing staff and health allied staff to communicate important information about patients.
Osteoarthritis
Most common form of arthritis. Occurs when the protect cartilage in the knee wears down over time.
Parkinson’s Disease
Progressive nervous system disorder that affects body movements by slowing them down. Symptoms are gradual in onset. Tremors are common in early stages.
Restraints
Device that is used to restrict a patients movements. These are used to protect the patient for self harm or product staff providing care.
