Ankle brachial pressure index 0.8-1
What is the management of venous ulcers?
Compression bandaging
Where are venous ulcers seen?
Medial ankle and lower leg
What is the presentation of arterial ulcers?
Painful, esp when legs elevated Small, sharply demarcated and deep Necrotic base Cold skin, weak or absent peripheral pulses Loss of hair
What investigations are done for arterial ulcers?
Ankle brachial pressure index <0.8
Doppler and angiography
What is the management of arterial ulcers?
Vascular reconstruction
Where are arterial ulcers seen?
Lateral ankle and lower leg
Pressure, trauma and distal sites
What is the presentation of neuropathic ulcers?
Painless Abnormal sensation Variable size and depth Granulating base Warm skin, normal pulses usually Peripheral neuropathy
What investigations are done for neuropathic ulcers?
Ankle brachial pressure index 0.8-1
XR= exclude osteomyelitis
What is the management of neuropathic ulcers?
Wound debridement
Regular repositioning and appropriate footwear
Where are neuropathic ulcers seen?
Pressure sites
