- Modern business must adapt and be flexible to survive

- Fear of the unknown
- Disrupted routines
- Lack of control
- Not understanding the need for change
- `Decreased confidence

- Created a model for Organizational Change
- Before you begin, you must fully understand the motivation (reason) for change in the first place
- Leading change blindly will cause turmoil and chaos in the workplaceUnfreeze-Change-Refreeze

UNFREEZE
A
- Prepare the organization for understanding that change is necessary
- Develop a strong rationale for why things aren’t working
- Break down the status quo
- Challenge the existing protocol and convince people that change is necessary
- BEWARE of strong reactions!
- Get buy-in and support from team leaders

CHANGE
A
- Communicate to ALL stakeholders how this change will benefit them
- Get people INVOLVED in the change
- Give TIME to people to adjust to things. Take things slowly if necessary
- What people need in this stage is full understanding of why they are being asked to change something and how they are valued in the organization
- This is a good time to ‘walk the talk’ and be visible to employees

REFREEZE
A
- Once everyone is adjusting to the change and implementing new protocol, it’s time to refreeze
- Manager can now perform checks to see that new methods are always being used and being used correctly
- Can refine new protocol
- People need confidence that they are doing things right at this stage
- CELEBRATE success to give closure to the change process and to give employees a sense of accomplishment
