Q

How can staff performance assist with achieving business objectives?

A

If staff are well treated, they are likely to be happier and perform better/be more productive. They will treat customers well and go over and above what customers expect.

Business objectives can be achieved because this creates a positive brand image, loyal customers, increased sales and market share and more profit.

Q

How does a business know what will keep their employees happy and sufficiently challenged?

A

Annual performance appraisal process

This process involves a meeting with the employee’s line manager where the employee’s performance will be discussed.

The employee will have an opportunity to say how they are feeling about their role and if they would be interested in taking on other roles within the organisation.

Q

Why is it important to ensure that employees are happy and sufficiently challenged?

A

To avoid a high employee turnover rate.

If employees are happy and sufficiently challenged, they will be less likely to look elsewhere for other opportunities.

Having a high turnover rate is extremely costly for businesses as all of the time and resources that have been invested in training an employee are lost and go with the employee to their new job and new employer. The organisation then has to spend more time and resources finding a replacement employee and training them up.
