Name the 3 theorys of emotions ?
- Differential or discrete emotions theory
- Functionalist approach
- Dynamic systems theory
Define the differential or discrete emotions theory:
- Emotions are given by birth
- Each emotion is seperated and is dependent on specific bodily and facial reactions.
Define the functionalist approach:
- Emotions are there to promote an action which is needed to achieve a goal.
- emotions vary on the social enviormnet but are not generally sepperated
- Example: Fear causes us to flee
Define the dynamic systems theory:
Emotions are put in the same categorize while seeing them acting together.
- is a mix of both
- A child while acting with the environment ( dynamic interaction with the environment which then teaches u relationship with emotions)
Name the postive emotion devlopmend of infants:
- 1 Month = short smile during rem sleep (caused by bilogical state not on interaction)
- 3 till 8 week smile depends on external stimuli
- 2 months happines in social and nonsocial
- 3 months smile direct to towards people
- 7 month smiling at familiar people rather than unknown
- Late in the year pleasure can be gained by unknown events
- second year childreen enjoy making other poeple laugh

- 2 months: facial expression can repressent now sadness and anger and also pain
- 5 to 12 months there is a connection between context and emotional expression
- elementary school childreen show less emotions because they learn in some context some emotions are inappropriate
- 3 to 6 years old show lees negative emotions because of the use of language
Define regulation of emotion ?
Process of inhibiting, or modulating internal feeling states in specific situations.
How does regulation develop ?
- 2 month Parents regulate emotional arousal by distrection or calmimg down
- 6 months Infants reduce stress (by rub or stoke there body)
- 9 to 12 months – Children begin to regulating themselves on parents demands
- after turning one childreens are able to inhibit motor behavior
How does temperament influence emotion regulation?
Temperament is shown as a consistency behavior across situations, as well as relative stability over time.
- regarding: emotional, motor, attentional reactivity and self-regulation
- Nurture efects = hormonal responding such as drugs
- Nature effects = temperament is based on genetic more important
Indvidual differences in showing emotions are mainly influenced by ?
By genetic and enviormental factors !

- Fearful of new situation which create stress and inhibition
- Irritable distress anger if he is not allwoed to do what he wants
- Attention span and persistence how long can someon be focused
- Activity level how much does he move
- Positive effects/approach (how much does a child smile)
- Rhythmicity = regularity of child behavior regarding sleep and eating
How does the family influences emotions on an infant ?
- Positive emotions at home -> leads to postive development
- Where as negative emotions or reactions leads to negative development
How does culture influences emotions on an infant ?
Different cultures teach u how much emotions are valued and how much they should be expressed.
