achilles patellar supinator biceps triceps
achilles - sacral 1 knee - lumbar 2,3,4 supinator - cervical 5,6 biceps - cevical 5,6 triceps - cervical 6,7
unilateral arm flexed (may not be if mild)
unilateral foot circumducted and extended
Hemiplegic gait
contralateral pyramidal tract lesion
universal flexion and small steps
may have associated tremor
parkinsonian gait or festinating gait
broad stance, wide and staggering quality.
people tend to fall to the ______ side of the lesion
cerebellar or ataxic gait
fall towards the ipsilateral side of the lesion
trouble with proprioception
rhomberg test (closed eyes standing straight) has nothing to do with the cerebellum
slamming foot down, may have problems in the dark
stamping gait
commonly seen in cerebral palsy, walking on tip toe, lots of abductor spasm, can even have a scissors gait
diplegic gait
Trendellenburg sign, hip cannot levetate. lean side to side when walking.
myopathic gait or wobble gait
lifting of the legs high because foot is pointed down
steppage gait or equine gait
writhing, bizzare movements.
choreiform “gait”
Sx happen without walking, may not be considered a gait at all/
