AETIOLOGY

Pathophysiology

A
  • Flexor tendons pass thought shealths along length of fingers (tunnels)
  • In trigger finger thickening of tendon or tightening of sheath preventing the tnedon from smoothly moving through sheath when finger is flexed and extended, causing pain and stiffness

CLINICAL FEATURES

Presentation

A
  • Troublesome finger that
    • Is painful and tender, usually around MCP joint on palm side
    • Does not move smoothly
    • Makes popping or clicking sound
    • Gets stuck in flexed position
  • Symptoms typically worse in morning and improve during day
