  • Inflammation and fibrosis in glenohumeral joint leads to adhesions (scar tissue)
  • Binds capsule and causes it to tighten around joint, restricting movement

CLINICAL FEATURES

Presentation

A
  • Typical course with 3 phases
    • Painful phase - shoulder pain first symptom and may be worse at night
    • Stiff phase - shoulder stiffness develops and affacts both active and passive movement
    • Thawing phase - gradual imrovement in stiffness and a return to normal
