- Inflammation and fibrosis in glenohumeral joint leads to adhesions (scar tissue)
- Binds capsule and causes it to tighten around joint, restricting movement

CLINICAL FEATURES
Presentation
A
- Typical course with 3 phases
- Painful phase - shoulder pain first symptom and may be worse at night
- Stiff phase - shoulder stiffness develops and affacts both active and passive movement
- Thawing phase - gradual imrovement in stiffness and a return to normal
