slides 7-8
trade unions are important because
they give workers strength in numbers
what is collective bargaining
an individual worker may not be able to persuade an employer to increase wages but by joining together, the workers have much more strength in negotiations with employers
Organization
the worker who joins the union becomes a member of that union and is entitled to certain benefits and protection which that union provides
however for the benefits, members are required to
pay a monthly fee called union fees, which enable the union to perform its functions
