Peace Corps
The peace corps is made up of American volunteers who travel to areas to help with education and better farming skills. The volunteers are not paid to do the work. Their humanitarian acts involve teaching, nursing and community development.
Red Cross
The Red Cross was founded by Henri Dunant in 1863. The role of the Red Cross and their 97 million volunteers is to offer first line disaster response services in times of war, crisis or disaster. They coordinate human, financial and tangible resources to assist those in need.
United Nations Peacekeepers
They help countries torn by conflict to create the conditions for lasting peace. It is comprised of civilians and military personnel. In addition to maintaining peace and security, peacekeepers assist with reform and restoration political and judicial systems, reintegrating former combatants and supporting the return of displaced persons.
FEEL (too lazy to type out)
Since 1992, FEEL has worked in communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago to assist in education, capacity building and poverty alleviation. FEEL is a non-governmental organization (NGO) and as a result, depends on donations and fundraising events.
Society of Saint Vincent de Paul
This is a voluntary organization affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. Among its varied efforts to offer material help to the poor, the Society has thrift stores which sell donated goods at a low price and raise money for the poor.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian organization. They help to eliminate poverty and homelessness in Latin America and the Caribbean. The organization relies heavily on volunteers who give their time to help build houses for people who are homeless or able to afford decent housing.
