yea (6- SNASA+Ruth)
type 1- absolute poverty (LOOK ME)
people who lack basic human necessities like shelter, food and water. the only focus is on surviving each day as it comes (maybe not me cuz im the opposite atp).
what does absolute poverty refer to
the total number of people living below the poverty line
relative poverty
it refers to the lack of income needed to maintain the average standard of living in one’s society. it is defined in comparison to other peoples standard of living in the country
generational poverty
this involved two generations born into poverty. those persons usually do not have resources to get themselves out of poverty
causes of poverty (card 6-11)
inequality (economic and social inequality)- this means that people do not have the tools or resources they need to provide for themselves
unemployment-
the unemployed lacks the financial means to provide for oneself and reduces the person’s capacity to access needs and wants

4.4% (Central Statistical Office)
haha it has a whole office for statistics
Lack of education-
the are barriers stopping children from accessing education. as such they do not have necessary skills and training to access job opportunities limiting their financial resources
limited capacity of the government-
some governments lack the financial resources to provide welfare programmes, food, health care and infrastructure for vulnerable citizens resulting in these individuals falling below the poverty line
civil conflict
protracted violence can cause various economic activities to halt, force people to flee the country, destroy infrastructure, limit investments, thus making it difficult for persons to provide for themselves
consequences
it can result in high illiteracy rates. poor living conditions inhibit a child’s ability to receive the best education possible due to absenteeism, lack of school related material. it limits the educational attainment and opportunity
consequences part 2
- increase in social ills such as crime, prostitution and child labour to support themselves
- increase in homelessness
- display various types of health issues- meningitis, respiratory issues, malnutrition, anxiety, depression
solutions part 1
the government should invest in job-creation strategies that create jobs which can boost the national economy. such jobs can be temporary employment to help the long term unemployed and other disadvantaged workers re-enter the labour force until they can achieve permanent employment
solutions part 2
increase the minimum wage, this can lead to some being able to satisfy more of their basic needs
