Family life is destroyed as addicts sometimes neglect and abuse family members
Productivity at the work place suffers due to absenteeism and lack of focus on the job which can lead to unemployment

crime rate increases as addicts engage in acts of robbery to sustain their drug habit
government has to allocate resources to assist in curing the various types of ailments caused by drug abuse. revenue could have been assigned to alternative uses

education programmes within the schools curriculum on the dangers of drug abuse
rehabilitation institutions which offer services to assist drug users

juveniles are prohibited by law from being sold legal drugs
laws with severe penalties for possession of drugs and trafficking drugs
