Q

How would you work out the salt produced from a reaction between an acid and a metal oxide or hydroxide?

A

Both the acid and the metal determine the salt. Hydrochloric acid produces chloride salts, sulfuric acid produces sulfate salts and nitric acids produces nitrate salts. The metal in the metal oxide (or hydroxide) is the metal of the salt, e.g. hydrochloric acid and copper oxide make copper chloride (and water).
