Q

What is the hormone called that regulates water balance and where is it produced

A

The hormone is called ADH (Anti Diuretic Hormone) and it it produced by the Pituitary Gland

17
Q

What happens when water content is too high

A

The brain detects the increase in water concentration and produces less ADH, this causes the kidneys to reabsorb a low volume or water. Due to this a large volume of dilute urine is expelled, and the water content returns to normal levels

18
Q

What happens when the water content is too low

A

The brain detects the decrease in water concentration and produces more ADH, this causes the kidneys to reabsorb a large volume or water. Due to this a small volume of concentrated urine is expelled, and the water content returns to normal levels
