Q

Where is the retina located and what is its function

A

It is located ahead of the choroid layer, but behind the vitreous humour. It is a layer of light sensitive cells which allows us to see images

Q

What happens in dim light, to the eye, and the radial & circular muscles

A

It dilates (the pupil expands) to allow as much light into the eye as possible. Radial muscles contract, circular muscles relax

16
Q

What happens in bright light, to the eye, and the radial & circular muscles

A

The pupil constricts to reduce the amount of light entering the eye. Radial muscles relax, circular muscles contract

17
Q

What happens to the ciliary muscle and suspensory ligaments when focusing on a distant object

A

Ciliary muscle-relax
Suspensory ligaments-contract
Lens shape-thin
Doesn’t need much refraction

18
Q

What happens to the ciliary muscle and suspensory ligaments when focusing on a close-by object

A

Ciliary muscle-contract
Suspensory ligaments-relax
Lens shape-fat
Needs lots of refraction
