Q

What are some side effects of extinction

extinction burst, extinction-induced agression,spontaneous recovery

A
  • extinction burst: behaviour intensifies before decline
  • extinction-induced agression: behaviour of aggressivenes not done before
  • spontaneous recovery: after period of extinction, behaviour may reappear, despite lack of reinforcement

Q

How does continuous schedule effect extinciton? intermittent schedule?

A

  • intermittent = slower decrease in behaviour(higher RTE)

Q

factors influencing effectiveness of extinction

how does inadvertent reinforcement effect extinction? What should be combinded with extinction?

A
  • inadvertent reinforcement occurs during the extinction phase = behaviour increase
  • extinction of unwanted behaviour should be combined with reinforcement of a functionally equivalent alternative behaviour
