paradigm, the 3 main irrational belief, procedure

- developed to change irrational thoughts
- ABCDE; activating events occur, beliefs, consequences, dispute (empiricism/scientific,functional,logical), emotional relief
- 3 main beliefs: winning approval of others, people must treat me a certain way, I must get what I want
- procedure: identify though, challenge the belief (therapist has to be confrontational), teach to replace irrational thoughts to rational ones
