topic 16 Flashcards
antecedent interventions
1
Q
define antecedent interventions
A
- antecedent stimuli are manipulated to evoke desirable behaviours than can be (differntially) reinforced
- also called anteced control procedures or antecdent manipulation
2
Q
step 1
give example (cartoonist)
A
- presenting, modifying, or developing new SD for desire behaviour
- increase in the depiciton of seat-belt use on the influence of using seatbelts
3
Q
2
A
- presenting EO for desirable behaviour
- eg. posting performance on locker-room wall
4
Q
step 3
A
- decreasing response effort for desirable behaviour
- similar to nudge theory: behaviour manipulated by changing the ease or difficulty of performing it
- recyling and how it became easier if it is on their desk
5
Q
step 4
A
- removing or modifying exisiting SD for undesirable behaviour
- eg. new environments served as a SD for civilized conversational behaviour
6
Q
step 5
A
- presenting AO for undesirable behaviour
7
Q
step 6
define the differences b/w MO and SDs
A
- increasing response effort for undesirable behaviour
- opposite of a nudge - a ‘sludge’
- SD: reinforcement is available following a particular behaviour
- MO: alters the value of the reinforcer
8
Q
step 7
A
- noncontingent reinforcement (NCR): a form of antecedent intervention in whcih stimuli that are known reinforcers are delivered on a schedule independent of behaviour (not dependent on responses)
- may function as an AO
- is often combined withe DRO
