Tooth Eruption Flashcards

1
Q

Where are the primary and secondary Incisors in relation to one another during pre-eruption?

A

Secondary tooth starts out lingual and at the incisal level of the primary. When primary erupts, Secondary is now at apical 1/3 level and lingual to the primary.

Q

Where are the primary and secondary Premolars in relation to one another during the pre-eruption phases?

A

Secondary is lingual and even with primary tooth pre-eruption. As primary tooth erupts, Secondary sits right underneath it.

Q

What are succedaneous and nonsuccedaneous teeth?

A

Succ=teeth that move into a postion formally occupied by a primary tooth (incisors, canine, bicuspids (premolars).

Q

What happens during the pre-eruptive functional phase of eruption?

A

Reduced enamel epithelium fuses with oral epithelium and will later become the junctional epithelium. CT degenerates, nerve fibers break, osteoclast resorb bone.

Q

What is leeway space?

A
