What is lichen planus? Caused by? Causes what in the mouth?
Purple polygonal papules on skin. Immune mediated. Causes lacy lesions called Wickhams Striae and leukoplakia in the oral cavity.
What is Pemphinigus Vulgaris? Cuased by? What is a common feature?
Superficial bullae that easily rupture in Mouth then skin. Caused by antibodies against cellular junctions. Feature is Acantholysis=floating keratinocytes
What is Bullous Pemphigoid? Caused by? At risk?
Big, subepidermal bullae of groin, arms, and mouth. Caused by Antibodies against basement membrane. Elderly at risk.
What is Melanoma? What increases risk? What is it called in mouth?
Malignant tumor of melanocytes. Risk increased by sun exposure. Called Acral Lentiginous in the mouth.
What is basal cell carcinoma? Manifestation? Risk?
Malignant tumor or basal layer. Pearly nodule. Older, Sun exposure.
What is squamous cell carcinoma? Risk? Manifestation?
Malignant tumor of squamous epithelium. Older, Sun exposure. Red nodule.
What is Actinic Keratosis? Risk? Manifestation?
Benign neoplasm of epidermis. Rough spots with erythematous base. Sun exposed skin.
