Inflammation Flashcards
What is the main effect of inflammation?
Increased vasodilation and vascular permeability.
What is the major mediator of imflammation vessel changes? What cell makes this?
Histamine. Mast cells and Basophils
What is the steps that leukocytes take in order to get to the site of injury? Mediated by what molecules?
- Margination and rolling (Selectins)
- Adhesion
- Transmigration (Integrins)
- Chemotaxis
What protein leads to opsonization in inflammation?
C3b.
What cells infiltrate during chronic inflammation?
Monocytes/Macrophages and lymphocytes
WHat is Classic M1 response in inflammation?
Microbicidal actions and inflammation.
Describe a monocyte?
Large, oddly shaped cell with a nucleus that does not fill the cellular space.
Describe a Lymphocyte?
Cell with nucleus that mostly fills the cellular space.
Describe a Neutrophil.
Polymorphic nucleus cell with few granulocytes
Describe a Eosinophil.
A polymorphic nucleus cell with many RED granulocytes
describe a Basophil.
A polymorphic nucleus with many BLUE granulocytes.
