How to make a standard solution

weight an exact amount of solid and record mass in weighing boat. Add solid to a beaker, rinse weighing boat and add to breaker. Dissolve solid in water and stir with a glass rod, rinse glass rod into breaker. Add solution to a volumetric flask and rinse breaker. Fill flash with water so bottom of meniscus is on the line, shake for uniform mixing

make a standard solution. Wash burette and pipette with a small amount of solution in each piece. Fill burette and check for bubbles and remove funnel. Fill pipette with standard solution so meniscus is on the line. Empty pipette into conical flask. Add a few drops of indicator. Swirl the flask as solution is added from the burette, this is the trail so a rough indication of the volume is needed. Take reading to 2 decimal places ending with 0 or 5. After taking the reading empty the conical flask and rinse with deionised water. Repeat until concordat results. After the trail go dropwise near the end. Use a white tile underneath to clearly see the colour change. Keep eye level when reading meniscus
