Prox: costal cartilage of rib 1
Distal: under distal surface of clavicle

Serratus anterior attachments
Prox: ribs 1-9
Distal: anterior medial border of the scapula
Innervation/BS of serratus anterior
SALT57; Long thoracic nerve (C5-C7) ; lateral thoracic and thoracodorsal arteries
Actions of serratus anterior
Scapular protraction; holds scap to thorax; upward rotation of scap; elevation of rib
Diaphragm attachments
Prox: costal margin, inferior border of ribs 11/12, L3 right crus and L2 left crus
Distal: central tendon
Innervation/BS of the diaphragm
Phrenic nerve (C3-C5); musculophrenic and inferior phrenic arteries
Action of diaphragm
Normal breathing at rest; over 70-80% of inspiration at rest
