Q

What is an inferential test?

A

Tests of significance that tells us the probability that the results of the analysis could have occurred by chance

Q

What is significance?

A

When the results of analysis is significant it means that you can say with some degree of confidence that the results are not due to chance

Q

What is step one of the sign test?

A

Subtract each participant value from the experimental column from their value in the control column, recording its sign (if two scores are equal, insert a 0)

Q

What is step 5 of the sign test?

A

Need to use the table of critical values for the sign test
Go down the N column until you come to the number for N
Then to across to the column headed 0.05
The rule states that S must be equal or less than the critical value to be significant
