The Sensory Flashcards
What a response
An action to a stimulus
What are the sense organs
Eye sight Ear hearing Nose smell Tongue taste Skin touch
How do our sense organs work
Nerves carry message from the sense organs to the Brain. Messages travel a long electrical impulses
Brain makes sense of message received, memorises it and decides upon a Correct response
The brain sends a message along different nerves to a muscle
What are sensory nerves
Nerves that carry messages to the brain
What a re motor nerves
Nerves that carry messages from the brain
Where is the central nerves system (cns)
The brain and spinal cord
What is in the brain ,
Many million nerve cells (neutrons)
What is in the spinal cord
Contains many nerves which take messages to and from the brain
Function of cornea
Allows light to pass into eye
Iris function
Controls the amount of light that enters the eye (acts like a shutter)
Lens
Focuses light on the retina
Pupil
Opening through which light enters the back of the eye
Retina
Absorbs light and produces nerve impulses
Optic nerve
Carries messages from the brain to the eye
Ciliary muscle
Change the shape of the lenses when we look at near or far objects
