Is positive and believes society is about supporting each other, it is society’s role to bring about commitment.
What is the conflict theory?
main characteristic of society is conflict and struggles between different types of groups. Some groups are more powerful than others.
What is the organic Analogy?
that society is held together by a shared values and parts of society such as the the family and education system to help maintain society as a whole, like the way organs in our body work together to maintain the health of the body.
What did Durkheim suggest?
Creating social cohesion and teaching specialist skills is the purpose of education e.g history- heritage and prep for workplace
What did parsons argue?
That education is a bridge between family and wider society, as children need a way to learn about the world in order to cope with society. For example the family is ascribed and the world achieved

that inequality is necessary to fit important roles with talented people.
The purpose of education is for individuals to show their abilities, so the most successful can gain higher qualifications, giving them access to the most important and highly rewarded positions

what is the purpose of education according to althusser?
to produce the next generation of workers that are persuaded to accept that inequlaity is inevitable and they deserve their position in society
