Psalms 139:1-10

Omnipresent and omniscient

A

Psalm 139:1-10 NKJV
[1] O LORD, You have searched me and known me. [2] You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. [3] You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. [4] For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether. [5] You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. [6] Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. [7] Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? [8] If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. [9] If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, [10] Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.

Acts 17:24-28

He is not far from each one of us

A

Acts 17:24-28 NKJV
[24] “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. [25] Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. [26] And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, [27] so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; [28] for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’

Ephesians 2:13-18

We have access to the Father through Jesus by one Spirit

A

Ephesians 2:13-18 NKJV
[13] But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. [14] For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, [15] having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, [16] and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. [17] And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. [18] For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

[6] Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” [7] Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. [8] And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

Psalm 46
He is with us, a very present help in trouble.
His presence strengthens us.

A

Psalm 46:1-11 NKJV
[1] God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. [2] Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; [3] Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah [4] There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. [5] God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. [6] The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted. [7] The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah [8] Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has made desolations in the earth. [9] He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariot in the fire. [10] Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! [11] The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Exodus 19:1-9

His Presence as a cloud

A

Exodus 19:1-9 NKJV
[1] In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai. [2] For they had departed from Rephidim, had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness. So Israel camped there before the mountain. [3] And Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: [4] ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. [5] Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. [6] And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” [7] So Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which the LORD commanded him. [8] Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do.” So Moses brought back the words of the people to the LORD. [9] And the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever.” So Moses told the words of the people to the LORD.

24
Q

Exodus 19:16-19

Moses goes to God’s Presence

A

Exodus 19:16-20 NKJV
[16] Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. [17] And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. [18] Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly. [19] And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice. [20] Then the LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

25
Q

Exodus 34:5-14

Moses in God’s Presence

A

Exodus 34:5-14 NKJV
[5] Now the LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. [6] And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, [7] keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.” [8] So Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped. [9] Then he said, “If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us, even though we are a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your inheritance.” [10] And He said: “Behold, I make a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the LORD. For it is an awesome thing that I will do with you. [11] Observe what I command you this day. Behold, I am driving out from before you the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. [12] Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be a snare in your midst. [13] But you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images [14] (for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God),

26
Q

Exodus 34:27-35

Moses’ face shines after being in God’s Presence

A

Exodus 34:27-35 NKJV
[27] Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write these words, for according to the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” [28] So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments. [29] Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him. [30] So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. [31] Then Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him; and Moses talked with them. [32] Afterward all the children of Israel came near, and he gave them as commandments all that the LORD had spoken with him on Mount Sinai. [33] And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face. [34] But whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak with Him, he would take the veil off until he came out; and he would come out and speak to the children of Israel whatever he had been commanded. [35] And whenever the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone, then Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.

27
Q

2 Corinthians 3:7-18

We are transformed in God’s Presence

A

2 Corinthians 3:7-18 NKJV
[7] But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, [8] how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? [9] For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. [10] For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. [11] For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious. [12] Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech- [13] unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. [14] But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. [15] But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. [16] Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. [17] Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. [18] But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

28
Q

Exodus 22:1-22

A Sanctuary for God

A

Exodus 22:1-22 NKJV
[1] “If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and slaughters it or sells it, he shall restore five oxen for an ox and four sheep for a sheep. [2] If the thief is found breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed. [3] If the sun has risen on him, there shall be guilt for his bloodshed. He should make full restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. [4] If the theft is certainly found alive in his hand, whether it is an ox or donkey or sheep, he shall restore double. [5] “If a man causes a field or vineyard to be grazed, and lets loose his animal, and it feeds in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field and the best of his own vineyard. [6] “If fire breaks out and catches in thorns, so that stacked grain, standing grain, or the field is consumed, he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution. [7] “If a man delivers to his neighbor money or articles to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house, if the thief is found, he shall pay double. [8] If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall be brought to the judges to see whether he has put his hand into his neighbor’s goods. [9] “For any kind of trespass, whether it concerns an ox, a donkey, a sheep, or clothing, or for any kind of lost thing which another claims to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whomever the judges condemn shall pay double to his neighbor. [10] If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep, and it dies, is hurt, or driven away, no one seeing it, [11] then an oath of the LORD shall be between them both, that he has not put his hand into his neighbor’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept that, and he shall not make it good. [12] But if, in fact, it is stolen from him, he shall make restitution to the owner of it. [13] If it is torn to pieces by a beast, then he shall bring it as evidence, and he shall not make good what was torn. [14] “And if a man borrows anything from his neighbor, and it becomes injured or dies, the owner of it not being with it, he shall surely make it good. [15] If its owner was with it, he shall not make it good; if it was hired, it came for its hire. [16] “If a man entices a virgin who is not betrothed, and lies with her, he shall surely pay the bride-price for her to be his wife. [17] If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money according to the bride-price of virgins. [18] “You shall not permit a sorceress to live. [19] “Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death. [20] “He who sacrifices to any god, except to the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed. [21] “You shall neither mistreat a stranger nor oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. [22] “You shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.

29
Q

Exodus 26:31-35

The Holy of Holies

A

Exodus 26:31-35 NKJV
[31] “You shall make a veil woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen. It shall be woven with an artistic design of cherubim. [32] You shall hang it upon the four pillars of acacia wood overlaid with gold. Their hooks shall be gold, upon four sockets of silver. [33] And you shall hang the veil from the clasps. Then you shall bring the ark of the Testimony in there, behind the veil. The veil shall be a divider for you between the holy place and the Most Holy. [34] You shall put the mercy seat upon the ark of the Testimony in the Most Holy. [35] You shall set the table outside the veil, and the lampstand across from the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south; and you shall put the table on the north side.

30
Q

Exodus 40:31-38

God comes and dwells among Israel in the Tabernacle

A

Exodus 40:31-38 NKJV
[31] and Moses, Aaron, and his sons would wash their hands and their feet with water from it. [32] Whenever they went into the tabernacle of meeting, and when they came near the altar, they washed, as the LORD had commanded Moses. [33] And he raised up the court all around the tabernacle and the altar, and hung up the screen of the court gate. So Moses finished the work. [34] Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. [35] And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. [36] Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys. [37] But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up. [38] For the cloud of the LORD was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

31
Q

Numbers 10:33-36

God’s Presence goes with them

A

Numbers 10:33-36 NKJV
[33] So they departed from the mountain of the LORD on a journey of three days; and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them for the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them. [34] And the cloud of the LORD was above them by day when they went out from the camp. [35] So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said: “Rise up, O LORD! Let Your enemies be scattered, And let those who hate You flee before You.” [36] And when it rested, he said: “Return, O LORD, To the many thousands of Israel.”

32
Q

Hebrews 8:1-5

We have a High Priest in Heaven now

A

Hebrews 8:1-5 NKJV
[1] Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, [2] a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man. [3] For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to offer. [4] For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law; [5] who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

33
Q

1 Kings 8:1-13

God comes and dwells in the Temple

A

1 Kings 8:1-11 NKJV
[1] Now Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the City of David, which is Zion. [2] Therefore all the men of Israel assembled with King Solomon at the feast in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month. [3] So all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. [4] Then they brought up the ark of the LORD, the tabernacle of meeting, and all the holy furnishings that were in the tabernacle. The priests and the Levites brought them up. [5] Also King Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel who were assembled with him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted or numbered for multitude. [6] Then the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the temple, to the Most Holy Place, under the wings of the cherubim. [7] For the cherubim spread their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim overshadowed the ark and its poles. [8] The poles extended so that the ends of the poles could be seen from the holy place, in front of the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside. And they are there to this day. [9] Nothing was in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. [10] And it came to pass, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD, [11] so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.

Q

1 Kings 8:22-53

The Temple was a constant reminder of God’s glory and presence

A

1 Kings 8:22-53 NKJV
[22] Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven; [23] and he said: “LORD God of Israel, there is no God in heaven above or on earth below like You, who keep Your covenant and mercy with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts. [24] You have kept what You promised Your servant David my father; You have both spoken with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day. [25] Therefore, LORD God of Israel, now keep what You promised Your servant David my father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man sit before Me on the throne of Israel, only if your sons take heed to their way, that they walk before Me as you have walked before Me.’ [26] And now I pray, O God of Israel, let Your word come true, which You have spoken to Your servant David my father. [27] “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built! [28] Yet regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O LORD my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You today: [29] that Your eyes may be open toward this temple night and day, toward the place of which You said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that You may hear the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place. [30] And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive. [31] “When anyone sins against his neighbor, and is forced to take an oath, and comes and takes an oath before Your altar in this temple, [32] then hear in heaven, and act, and judge Your servants, condemning the wicked, bringing his way on his head, and justifying the righteous by giving him according to his righteousness. [33] “When Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have sinned against You, and when they turn back to You and confess Your name, and pray and make supplication to You in this temple, [34] then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your people Israel, and bring them back to the land which You gave to their fathers. [35] “When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, when they pray toward this place and confess Your name, and turn from their sin because You afflict them, [36] then hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain on Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance. [37] “When there is famine in the land, pestilence or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers; when their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is; [38] whatever prayer, whatever supplication is made by anyone, or by all Your people Israel, when each one knows the plague of his own heart, and spreads out his hands toward this temple: [39] then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men), [40] that they may fear You all the days that they live in the land which You gave to our fathers. [41] “Moreover, concerning a foreigner, who is not of Your people Israel, but has come from a far country for Your name’s sake [42] (for they will hear of Your great name and Your strong hand and Your outstretched arm), when he comes and prays toward this temple, [43] hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, that all peoples of the earth may know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this temple which I have built is called by Your name. [44] “When Your people go out to battle against their enemy, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the LORD toward the city which You have chosen and the temple which I have built for Your name, [45] then hear in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause. [46] “When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, and they take them captive to the land of the enemy, far or near; [47] yet when they come to themselves in the land where they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to You in the land of those who took them captive, saying, ‘We have sinned and done wrong, we have committed wickedness’; [48] and when they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who led them away captive, and pray to You toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen and the temple which I have built for Your name: [49] then hear in heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause, [50] and forgive Your people who have sinned against You, and all their transgressions which they have transgressed against You; and grant them compassion before those who took them captive, that they may have compassion on them [51] (for they are Your people and Your inheritance, whom You brought out of Egypt, out of the iron furnace), [52] that Your eyes may be open to the supplication of Your servant and the supplication of Your people Israel, to listen to them whenever they call to You. [53] For You separated them from among all the peoples of the earth to be Your inheritance, as You spoke by Your servant Moses, when You brought our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.”
