What does the reproductive system in the male consist of?
hormones that work in combination with the pelvic organs and structures to play a part in the process of reproduction through fertilisation of a female egg.
Describe what is produced by the testes (testicles)?
spermatoza (or sperm) are produced and stored until sexual intercourse.
What is spermatozoa?
male gammetes, or sex cells
What is the name of the protective liquid that mixes with sperm at the time of intercourse?
semen
Where do you find semen?
in the epididymis
Where does the semen in the epididymis get ejected through to?
It is ejaculated through ductus deferens ducts out of the penis via the uretha and into the vaginal tract of the female.
Name the 3 main hormones involved in the functioning of the male reproductive system?
- follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)
- luteinising hormone (LH)
- testosterone (male sex hormone)
Name the gland that FSH (follicle_stimulating hormone) and the LH (luteinising hormone) are manufactured by?
the pituitary gland found in the brain
What is FSH (follicle_stimulating hormone) responsible for?
The production of sperm in a process called spermatogenesis
What is LH (luteinising hormone) responsible fore?
initiating the production of testosterone, which also supports spermatogenesis

- male muscle dimensions and strength
- fat distribution
- bone mass
- deepening of the voice
- growth of facial and body hair
- development of the Adam’s apple
- development of sex drive.
