What is the key concept of the Magisterium?
- Council of the Catholic Church made up of the Pope and Bishops.
- They are given the gift of the holy spirit which guides them to make the right decisions.
What does the Magisterium help Catholics to understand?
The Magisterium, guided by the Holy Spirit, help Catholics to understand the Word of God.
Only Catholic Christians have the Magisterium as part of their religion
What do the Magesterium do?
They give answers to modern day issues which may have no existed when the Bible was written.
Who was the first Pope?
Jesus made his disciple Peter the first Pope, or leader of the Catholic Church.
Today the head is Pope Francis.
How is the Pope and Bishops connect to Jesus’ teachings and what does this mean?
Catholics believe that the Pope continues the succession from St Peter and the bishops continue the work of the disciples.
This gives them a connection to Jesus’ teachings that means they have the authority to teach others.
What is Apostolic Succession?
The unbroken connections that the bishops and the Pope have with Jesus’ disciples
What is a source of evidence that supports the Magisterium?
“And i tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church” - Jesus to Peter when he was made the first Pope in the Gospels.
How does it change a Catholics life?
They will look to the teachings of the Magisterium to fully understand the message of God in our modern day lives.
