What is judgement?

A

At the end of our life, we will be faced with a judgement to choose God or reject God. The decision we take leads to judgement and decides where we ‘go’ to heaven or hell.

A

Jesus tells this story where people who help eachother will be rewarded in heaven as opposed to people who are not caring and don’t help the community.
Those will be punished in Hell”

story of the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus.

A

Jesus describes a wealthy man and poor beggar names Lazarus, who lives by the man’s gates. The rich man never helps Lazarus. They both die and Lazarus goes to be with the Prophet Abraham in Heaven, but the rich man goes to Hell where he is in a lot of discomfort and asks Lazarus to help him.
Abraham reminds the rich man that he received the good things in his earthly life, but L did not, so the beggar would receive comfort in Heaven.

  1. Catholics will try to live out the example of Jesus, by showing forgiveness to those who have wronged them.
  2. Catholics will try to help people in need by donating their time to money or charities like CAFOD who help people after their disasters such as flooding.

Parable of the unmerciful servant

A

The master is merciful to the servant and cancels his debt. However the forgiven servant will not pardon another man who is in debt to him. When the master finds out aboout this, he punishes the servant.

Meaning behind the unmerciful servant.

A

Jesus warns that this is an example of what God’s judgement will be like, if people cannot pardon others, they cannot expect to be forgiven by God themselves.
