What is employment law
Employment law is legislation that concerns the rights of individual workers, as well as groups of employees such as trade unions.
What are important areas of employment law
Individuals rights, such as equality, pay and working conditions
The rights of trade unions, and the limits placed on their operation
What is employment law for individulas
Equality act 2010 - You cannot discriminate against someone for concerning about gender, sexuality, race, religion and disability - Limiting them of: Recruitment, their pay, promotions. Also making them redundant because of these factors.
National minimum (living) wage
Health and safety at work act.
What is employment law for trade unions
All individuals have the right to representation - to join a union
Employers do not need to recognise or negotiate with a TU
Trade unions are only allowed to strike when certain conditions are ,et = 50% turnout with majority in favour of a strike.
What are the opportunities for employment law
Employment of a diverse workforce, reflective or customers
A more motivated and stable workforce as a result of implementing all employment laws
