- adult attachment types was similar to the patterns found in infancy, 56% secure, 25% avoidant and 19% resistant, found positive correlation between attachment type and love experiences - securely attached desrcibed love experiences as happy, friendly + trusting etc, such relationships lasted longer (secure=10 years, avoidant=6 years and resistant=5 years)

- reserach is correlational, not causational, may be 3rd factor (EV), personality characteristics could change so attachment types may change
- relies on retrospective classification of attachment, have to look back on events and may remember incorrectly = lacks validity, may show social desirability by downplaying childhood
- overly deterministic, other factors could effect this, could be socially sensitive for parents and may put pressure on them
attachment disorders in children
attachment disorders is when children fail to establish any sort of emotional bond with pcg
* DAD=disinhibited attachment disorder
* RAD=reactive attachment disorder
lack of attachment during critical period would result in a lack of IWM = attachment diorder which may lead to interpersonal and behavioural difficulties later in life
