The war increased female medical students to 2,900. Interestingly previously females were paid less than males, and then male doctors changed that after being worried about female doctors beign hired more due to less costs. It however required less male doctors so less opportunities for female doctors to take jobs, and when they did they were in small cities

It was actually in plastic surgery, WW1 had developed the necceary techniques. In 1920 Gillies and Kilner published a book teaching doctors on the importance of treating facial injuries
How did burn treatment advance
As pilots were often shot down and suffered severe burns this became a significant issue. Mcindoe who was one of the 4 fully experienced plastic surgeons in Britain headed a research centre. He found that the chemical treatment that was traditionally used was actually reducing the utility of the burn wounds, and that pilots that ended up in the sea healed better. That’s why he started experimenting with saline baths for burn patients.
Who was Vladmir Filatov
A ukrainian surgeon who starting growing skin before adding it into the body as a skin graft similar to the pedicle tubing by Gillie’s. Filatov was also experimenting with grafting skin to eyes to help regain sight.
How was blood transfusion and storaged improved in WW2
There was experimentation with using dried blood plasma instead of blood that made transportation and storage simpler.
How was tetanus improved in WW2
Because it was affecting many soldiers, work was made on the tetanus microorganims. Then in 1940 the tetanus vaccine was made.
How was PTSD improved in WW2
In WW1 it was looked down upon being cowardly and treatments such as electrical shock treatments. IN WW2 there was a better understanding with 18 physciatric hospitals set up, and provided peacful conditons to avoid breakdowns.
