Q

How were sick people cared for in the late 18th century

A

Most were cared for by a female family member. Those who could afford it hired a nurse, a physician would prescribe medicine, and a nurse with no training would make sure the medicine was taken and the patient was comfortable. There were cottage hospitals but very few and to get in you need a letter of recommendation from power people
