How were sick people cared for in the late 18th century
Most were cared for by a female family member. Those who could afford it hired a nurse, a physician would prescribe medicine, and a nurse with no training would make sure the medicine was taken and the patient was comfortable. There were cottage hospitals but very few and to get in you need a letter of recommendation from power people

Published in 1859 many hospitals immediately began making changes changing how ward beds were spaced, got bigger windows for ventilation and light, and changed floor boards to wood to clean better

No, despite her misplaced belief she influenced wards to become hygenic reducing infection
