  • Train your crew to effectively and efficiently take over the warship upon receipt to the Navy
  • Prepare the ship’s organization alongside the XO
  • Ensure that requisitions are submitted for articles to outfit the ship which are not otherwise being provided
  • Procure fo the commander of the shipyard or shipbuilding supervisor the general arrangement plans of the ship, and all pertinent information relative to the general condition of the ship and the work being undertaken on the hull, machinery and equipment, upon reporting for duty
  • Inspect the ship ASAP after reporting for duty, and frequently thereafter, IOT remain informed of the state of her preparation for service. Report unsafe deficiencies to your boss, the shipyard CO or shipbuilding supervisor
  • Always know the progress of the ship in the commissioning pipeline
  • Before departure for sea, ensure the officers and crew have been properly organized, stationed, and trained to cope effectively with any emergency that might arise in the normal course of scheduled operations
