Q
what does the
aorta
vena cava
pulmonary vein
pulmonary artery
do?
A

aorta- takes oxygenated blood from the heart to the rest of the body

vena cava- brings deoxygenated blood from the body into the heart

pulmonary vein- carries oxygenated blood from the lungs into the heart

Q

what are the 3 functions of the cardiovascular system expand

A
  • transport, carries oxygen and nutrients as well as waste products like CO2 and lactic acid
  • clotting, platelets form blood clots which seal wounds quickly, important to fight infection and excessive bleeding
  • temperature regulation, blood vessels carry out vasodilation and vasoconstriction to keep temperature at 37 degrees
