A
EPO is a hormone that stimulates production of red blood cells

what are the 5 steps of blood doping
A
- blood is taken when haemoglobin levels are high
- blood is frozen
- the performers body naturally replaces the blood
- frozen blood is injected with EPO then put back into the performer
- because of the increase in red blood cells, performers aerobic capacity is increased

- blood thickens
- increased chance of heart attacks and strokes
- higher blood pressure
- weight gain
- kidney disease(through epo)
- risk if infection when sharing blood
