The Cardiovascular System - Coronary Circulation Flashcards
Capillary Networks
Where oxygen, nutrients, and wastes are exchanged between the blood and the tissues
Coronary Circulation
The process by which the heart receives it’s own blood supply
The Aorta is the big “pipe” that receives what?
All the oxygenated blood that comes out of the heart, then branches off into smaller vessels that go to different areas of the body
Coronary Arteries
The blood vessels that branch off the aorta to take oxygen-rich blood to feed the tissues of the heart
Coronary Veins
The veins that bring back stale blood back to the right atrium to be oxygenated
Coronary Sinus
Coronary veins that join and form a trough-like structure that opens into the right atrium
What do the superior and inferior vena cava do?
Carry blood from the rest of the body to the right atrium
