What are the ‘6 acts of the Bible’?
Act 1 - Creation: God created the world, and made humans the pinnacle and rulers of his creation. Everything was good
Act 2 - The Fall: Adam and Eve (with the help of Satan) bring evil into the world. When that happened, God said that they would have to live with evil, and one day he would destroy Satan. Over the next few thousand years, the Israelites were stuck in a cycle of sinning, needing help, getting help from God, and sinning agian
Act 3 - Failure of the Israelites: God chooses Abraham to be the father of his nation, the Israelites, and blesses him and his family. Over the next few thousand years, the Israelites were stuck in a cycle of sinning, needing help, getting help from God, and sinning agian
Act 4 - Jesus comes to redeem: Jesus, the descendant of David, was born from a miracle. He was a perfect human in terms of his loyalty to God. He saved humanity and showed us how to live. He died, then resurected, then went to heaven
Act 5 - The good news proclaimed: The act we’re in now. The church of is proclaiming the work of Christ. We all were/are called to make disciples of all nations, and teach them what it’s like to follow God
Act 6 - The new creation: The final battle between good and evil (good will win). Starts with Christ’s return, wehre he will make things new, and will end with everyone living in harmony
What are the Bible’s settings?
Primary: Middle East, parts of Europe, parts of Asia, Heaven, Hell
Secondary: Israel, Egypt, Rome, Persia, Syria, Babylon, Greece, Bethlehem, Galilee, Jerusalem, etc.
What are the Bible’s characters?
Primary: Holy Trinity, Satan, Prophets, Israelites
Secondary: Jesus, Moses, Abraham, David, Adam, Eve, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Noah, etc.
What are the Bible’s conflicts?
Primary: God vs. Evil
Secondary: God vs. Israelites, Joseph vs. Brothers, Jesus vs. Cross, Jacob vs. Esau, David vs. Goliath, etc.
What is the Bible’s plot?
God creates and saves humanity (many times). Throughout this time, his creation forms a bond with him and finds salvation through it
What is the Bible’s climax?
Jesus dying on the cross and resurrecting, fulfilling the promises God made and redeeming all of us
What is the Bible’s resolution?
When Christ comes to Earth again and renews heaven and Earth. Eternal life with God for all (has not happened yet)
