What role did Samuel play in the Bible? Who was he to Saul and David?
Samuel was a key Old Testament figure and a good servant to God. He was the one to physically anoint the people God ordained as king of his people. God also used him to make sure the people he chose were right for the job, and to deliver them wisdom. To Saul and David, Samuel was the one to anoint them and the one they went to when they were in trouble or needed to consult someone
What was the key character difference between Saul and David?
The key character difference between Saul and David was that David’s trust in God was ‘unending’, while Saul’s had a limit. When Saul saw that his kingship was even a little challenged by David, he took matters into his own hands, and tried to kill him. Meanwhile, when David’s life was challenged by Saul, he trusted in God, and didn’t even harm Saul
What are 5 great things David did, and 5 in his life that were overall bad
GREAT: Step up to Goliath, defeated the Philistines (basically once and for all), conquered Jerusalem and made it their capital, Spared Saul’s life, and wrote Psalms glorifying God
BAD: He was sought after to kill by Saul, he killed Uriah to marry Bathsheba, His son raped someone then was killed by another one of his sons, he took a national census which caused a plague, and his son started a rebellion against him
