INDICATIONS:
Prevention of tetanus and diphtheria in persons >= 7 yo
DOSE:
0.5 mL
OF DOSES:
1-3 doses
FREQUENCY:
Give a Td booster every 10 yrs after a primary or normal childhood series has been completed.
For people unvaccinated or behind, complete a primary series with Td.
- Doses for a primary series should be spaced at 0 mo, 1-2 mo, and 6-12 mo intervals
- Substitute a one-time dose of Tdap for one of the doses in the series, preferably the first
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Severe allergic reaction (e.g. anaphylaxis) after a previous dose or to a vaccine component.
PRECAUTIONS:
A) Moderate or severe acute illness with or without fever
B) History of arthus reaction following a prior dose of tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine
C) Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) within 6 wks after previous dose of tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
Injection Site: pain, swelling, erythema
Systemic: headache, body ache/muscle weakness, and tiredness
