FREQUENCY:

A

Give at age 2, 4, and 6 months

Notes:

    • May give dose #1 as early as age 6 weeks
    • Do not begin series in infants older than age 14 weeks 6 days (3.75 months)
    • Give final dose no later than age 8 months 0 days

If prior vaccination included use of different or unknown brand(s), a total of 3 doses should be given up to 32 weeks

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

A

A) Demonstrated history of hypersensitivity to the vaccine or any component of the vaccine
B) History of uncorrected congenital malformation of the GI tract that would predispose the infant to intussusception
C) History of intussusception
D) History of Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease (SCID)l

PRECAUTIONS:

A

A) Avoid use in infants with a history of gastrointestinal disorders (e.g., active acute gastrointestinal illness, chronic diarrhea), failure to thrive, history of congenital abdominal disorders, and abdominal surgery.
B) Avoid use in infants who are potentially immunocompromised (e.g., HIV/AIDS).
