INDICATIONS:
Girls and women 9 through 26 years (ACIP) of age for the prevention of the following diseases caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) types included in the vaccine:
- Cancer (cervical) caused by HPV types 16 and 18
- Precancerous or dysplastic lesions (cervical) caused by HPV types 16 and 18
DOSE:
0.5 mL
OF DOSES:
3 doses
FREQUENCY:
Give to girls at age 11–12 years on a 0, 1–2, and 6 month schedule. May be given as early as age 9 years.
For all girls who were not previously vaccinated through age 26 years (ACIP), give 3 ‐ dose series (0, 2, 6 month schedule)
Minimum intervals between doses:
- 4 wks between #1 and #2
- 12 wks between #2 and #3
- at least 24 wks between doses #1 and #3.
If possible, use the same vaccine product for all doses
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Hypersensitivity, including severe allergic reactions to any component or a previous dose of the vaccine
PRECAUTIONS:
A) Moderate or severe acute illness with or without fever
B) Pregnancy
C) Syncope ‐ because vaccinees may develop syncope, sometimes resulting in falling with injury, observation for 15 minutes after administration is recommended.
D) Syringes = possible latex
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
Injection Site: pain, swelling, erythema, pruritus, and bruising
Systemic: syncope, headache, fever, nausea, and dizziness
