Q

Compact Theory

A

Jefferson essentially argues that national government is a creation of the states because the nation was formed through a compact agreed upon by all states. He further argues that “each party has and equal right to judge for itself..”.This generally means that because that national government is a creation of the states, that the states may decide when it has overstepped it’s powers, and it is unfair to have the Federal gov’t decide it’s own power.
